Sausage & Red Pepper Strata

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground pork sausage
  • 1 t. dried oregano
  • ½ t. red pepper flakes
  • 8 slices French bread, cubed
  • 1 red pepper, diced
  • 2 t. dried parsley
  • 8 eggs, beaten
  • 8 c. evaporated milk
  • 2 c. evaporated milk
  • 2 t. Dijon mustard
  • ½ t. pepper
  • 1 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
How to Make It
  1. Brown sausage with oregano and red pepper flakes in a skillet over medium heat; drain and set aside.
  2. Arrange bread cubes in the bottom of a greased 13"x9" baking pan; top with sausage mixture, red pepper and parsley.
  3. Set aside. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, mustard and pepper; pour evenly over sausage mixture.
  4. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and refrigerate 8 hours to overnight.
  5. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 55 minutes. Remove foil; sprinkle with cheese and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
